I have been quilting on my Long arm for 3 years and quilting for customers the last 2 years. I spent my first year catching up on those tops that piled up for the last 6 years, of coarse I did not finish all of them. Some of my friends from a small group got me started quilting for them and after my first several nerve racking quilt jobs I was up and running. I just love feathers and heavy quilting on my show quilts. I have won best machine quilting large for the last two years at the Omaha quilt show. For customers I try and quilt 2 to 3 quilts a week, unless they are custom. Those usually take me 2 or 3 days. I spend 2 days a week taking care of my grandson while my daughter in-law and son work and feel very fortunate to be able to do this for them. I find this to be one of the great things about owning your own business.
Most of my quilts are floral and traditional but I have started trying new techniques. I really think that I can appreciate every kind of quilt out there. To me that is one of the great things about quilting for others, is that you get a chance to work on all styles of quilts. The biggest down side is trying to still have time to do my quilts. My tops are piling up again!!
